Home call: Sis. Annamma David, Punalur, Kerala

Proverbs 31:30 (NIV)
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Annamma David was born on 9th, March 1929 as the youngest daughter of Iype Philipose and Rahelamma in Kallisery-Parayil family. The Lord’s servant Kallisery, P.I. Chacko took the baby in his hands and dedicated it. In later years according to and in the foreknowledge of God, she became his youngest daughter-in-law. Her parents who came from a Marthoma background were very God fearing. She came to salvation at the early age of 9, when studying in the Parayil School through her teacher, Mammen Kurian Sir. Her later education was in the Tiruvalla Balika Madom and the high school education in Trivandrum Cotton Hill High School.

On 23rd December 1948, at the age of 19, she was married to Punalur-Solomon David. The marriage was solemnized by Evg. P.I. Chacko. After the marriage, she was also baptized by the evangelist. Shortly thereafter, she went to join her husband in Bahrain and continued there as a family till 1957. She then came with her three eldest children to Punalur and stayed with the evangelist P.I.Chacko. In 1958 at the time of his death, P.I.Chacko entrusted the care of his wife to Annamma. She carried out this responsibility faithfully to the end of Mrs. P.I. Chacko’s life. She also had the privilege of looking after her own mother and sister, Mariamma Samuel in Sharon house till their home call.

Annamma who loved to show hospitality was a good cook. She was very particular to give hospitality in her home to foreign and local missionaries, who came to Punalur for conventions and other spiritual ministries. She had a great burden for lost souls and took much effort in bringing the Gospel to all the nearby homes. She also had a part in the hospital ministry. She took on the responsibility as the secretary for the Sodari Samajam – Punalur centre for many years.

The Lord granted the Solomon-Annamma couple six daughters. She was very diligent to bring them up in the fear of the Lord. The couple had the practice of getting up every morning at 5 am and spending time in prayer. They would then have the family prayer with the children. They would then also check if the children were having their own quiet time. The mother was more concerned about the spiritual well-being of the children rather than their material prosperity and would spend much time in tears and prayer for them before God. She trained the children to come to God when they faced problems in life.

As written in [Pro 31:28], ‘Her children rise up and call her blessed.’

Her husband called her before he died, and said she was a faithful wife. As it is written in [Pro. 31:11], ‘Her husband has full confidence in her.’

[Dan 12:13], “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”
